I need someone good to recaulk the decks on our 25 footer. They're iroko (poor man's teak) laid on ply. The existing caulking (Sikaflex or similar presumably) has come away from the iroko in places, so the ply will not be long of this world unless it gets sorted pronto. I don't have the time. I want it to be done well (i.e. look good and last for many years, hopefully more than the 4 years that the current job has lasted). Can anyone recommend the right person for the job (preferably based on experience of having the same job done)? Would prefer North Essex/Suffolk area.

I was under the impression that Jon-the-Taxi was more of a smacks-and-big-bits-of-wood man (no disrespect intended) than a 'posh-yachts' man (not that our boat is a posh yacht, but the decks are quite posh). Worth talking to him though I'm sure.

You will find that if it is wood, then Jon will turn his hand to it with VERY good results. He replaced the rubbing strake on our dinghy last year (it is now the best part of the dinghy!!!), and he wil be doing some titivation to some of the woodwork on 'Endy' this winter. Well worth having a chat with him!

Not denying that Jon is pretty good, as is Father Tony Brett, ( if he is well enough) but you may well be looking for someone with deck laying experience. Have used Medusa Marine ( Richard Thomas) to good effect. If interested pm. for no. HTH

Just had a rotten stern post sorted by Robertsons in Woodbridge. I can recommend their work on wood if not decks themselves. They seem honest & helpful and they didn't mind me working down there at the same time.
