In September MBY:

2011 Aquastar 57' Explorer £849,000.

2011 Fleming 55 Pilot £1,295,000.

I am not in the market for either, but they seem similar to me so, why the price difference?

Toodle pip,

Flemings are right at the top end of the market for both their initial selling price and their slow depreciation. Arguably they are the best SD trawler yacht around in their size range and there always has been a strong secondhand market which seems to have been immune to the recession. That's another way of saying that Flemings are a bit different to other boats in terms of their market position. The problem with the Aquastar is that very few buyers outside the UK know the brand or its reputation and therefore the market doesn't value an Aquastar at the same level as a Fleming irrespective of their relative merits. Having said that, I think that 57 is now sold
Btw and IMHO, a secondhand Fleming even despite the high price makes an excellent buy because you do really seem to be able to sell them for what you paid for them and with the new Fleming 58 selling for £2m+, that trend can only continue
