Boats with masts that can be lowered by hand?

This seems a very odd parameter to use to select a boat. Compared with the annual running costs of a yacht, the costs involved in getting a marina to raise/crane the mast are minimal. Pick the boat that you want for more conventional reasons e.g. performance, accomodation, keel type etc etc, then worry about how to get the mast up and down.

Mine (35 steel, so not light) was built with a pretty bizarre system. The mast is stepped on a rather large (read huge) tabernacle, and a wire is threaded through the deck to the keel mechanism, so the hydraulic system is used. The previous owner did it numerous times apparently, and showed me some pics, but don't fancy trying myself. Happy to let yards have some money in order to give myself some peace of mind.
