Speaking as a newbie - I was seeking information, recommendations and guidance. I expected a "my boats better attitude" but not to be effectively told - don't bother you can't afford to play. Might be true - perhaps I should look at river boating rather than moor an older sub 10M petrol boat near your flashy diesels.

Having said that a lot of people have given me some great advice, I choose to ignore the snide comments. I've had a number of offers to come look at their boats and WX permitting to even go out - providing I offer security on the odd engine blowing up! Thanks to you all. And some of the DF_Lights post (tenders etc..) saved me from bothering.

However I didn't choose to have my email account filled up by filth relating to DF_Lights activities. BTW the senders weren't as clever as they thought - the ISPs have talked and I know your root address (or company name at least) - please therefore desist.

I hope that when I have questions in the future I will get a reasoned response!

Ah, you lost a phone too? I've done it a couple of times, once holding the outboard (the tender swung away as I stepped in). Managed to balance the o/b on the rams on the leg, so at least it didn't drown, but the mobile and the wallet did...

Not that boating is expensive (aside from blowing up engines) I've also managed to lose some expensive sunglasses when the short person pulled them out of my pocket and dropped them into the marina, whilst we're boarding for a sea trial.

Not lost a phone/wallet yet but then my sea time is measured in hours so far. Is it suggested that on the 1st of April I should just throw myself off a pontoon to get it over and done with for the year?

Barry please stop sounding so self-righteous and dragging up DFL, even implying that DFL's "tenders" post should have got serious replies. It's really boring now.

Puh-lease! Let's drop this now, before we all die of boredom. DFL wasn't hard done by, but IMHO, some of the stuff thrown at Barry was OTT, hence us starting the DFL thing. Leave Barry alone to buy a boat, ask questions, and generally just get on with stuff.

There you go Barry. Can't say fairer than that. Buy a boat, we'll come down and christen it (I can just see the invites now - "Please bring a bottle of champagne/jerrycan of unleaded"), and given sufficient alcohol, I suspect the hatchet will be finally buried. Count me in.
