The light hearted chat about forum oscars earlier early in the year inspired me to do some soul searhing to find the inner Kaurismäki in me (he is a movie director, in case you haven't heard of him. Not many outside Finland have). Despite the lenghty search involving watching his films and consuming red wine, he remained a mystery and I gave up.

I then decided to just keep my camera with me, do some shots here and there and then piece them together at the end of the year. So, here are some of the highlights of our boating year 2013.

Bandwidth permitting, please switch to youtube for higher quality playback.

As in Firefly's excellent 'year in pics' -thread, any vids or clips you might wish to share from the past summer are more than welcome in reply.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

I just made it back to the boat so sorry for the late reply. Matt, I used my dslr (canon 5d mk ii) and the gopro. Dslr gives nice results but everything being manual makes it too easy to miss the focus as i did in some of the shots. So for the convenience I'll probably be using a camcorder in the future.

I used premiere elements for editing. I had a quick go with the Lightworks but due to few minor issues I had with it I reverted back to the tried and tested (for me that is).

Video in any shape or form serves so well in bringing back the fun moments and sharing them.

Firefly, don't worry about the unedited, let us see what you saw.

:)

Thanks for that will have a look at that software, it looks extremely high quality and you have edited it really well thanks for posting.

You must be joking, K. Who could dare posting anything, after such professional stuff? :D
It must have taken quite some time, both when shooting and cutting, but the result is indeed impressive.
And the kids are indeed lovely!
Thanks a lot for sharing those memories with us.
If anyone haven't seen it yet, you won't regret dedicating 5 mins of your time to it.

^^ Mapis makes a good point... who would dare upload another video after scubas original one... great video K, such contrasting weather!

I'll just add these as the landscape is similar to scubamans.... my favourite day of boating in 2013, we had exceptional weather...

Wow scubaman, what wonderful video. I love the photography and the editing. But also you set up some great shots, like the starboard side of Aida leaving the marina 2:16. And of course I loved your AnCam, at 3:08 ha ha!

Right, I'm going to do some editing now.... :D :D

Thanks for brightening up a wet and windy day here. A super video very professionally put together. That looks to be a great cruising ground. How warm does the water get in summer, certainly lots of people swimming, maybe they're just more hardy than here in the UK?

Thank you again for the kind comments!

In fact, there aren't any stills on the vid, the action on some clips is just really slow :)

Jfm, i can fully see the appeal of the ancam after using the poor man's version :).

LJS: on a good summer the water typically warms up to 19-21. In the occational heatwave the surface temps can get as high as 26-27. At the time of shooting it was around 19.
