Boating Slang?

dipping the gunnal (gunwale)
mainly done to impress the newbies - or wash off the puke on the lee side

Favoured yachting term: Three sheets to the wind?

No, better still, the conversation between SWMBO and a guest:
SWMBO: "Oh look they've got their spinnaker stuck"
GUEST: "What's a spinnaker?"
SWMBO: "A big colourful sail that makes men shout a lot"

Says it all, dunnit?

Not sure whether the lack of a "C" was deliberate, but it certainly made for accuracy!

"2 4 pull"
"In the groove"
"Get on the side"
"blowing a hoowly"

Not phrases but I liked saying the "swinge", and then connected in location there is the "race".

Wan't "2,4,6, heave" a song by "Home Truths" own Tom Robinson back in the 70s or am I confusing it with "Sing if you're glad to be on starboard"
