Boating Slang?

[ QUOTE ]
contemporary terms that mean 'fast' or 'full sail' or a 'strong wind' etc. I'm looking for what is 'cool' or 'exciting' in sailing

You can do do no better than seek out the dame of sailing for these extreme windy terms

"It's really, really difficult"

"I don't think I can manage"

Cutting edge.

Now if you are looking for the buzz word for the hippest coolest really realy best boat in the marina it is Rockey.
As in that guy has the Rockiest boat ever. Or I wish I had a rocky boat like that. I wish my boat was not an AWB but a rocky job.

nah - I have heard the expression ' it was jolly exiting', I assume it was about sailing cos it was overheard in a sailing club

one of my most exiting moments when sailing was when I won a regatta in southampton many years ago .... and there was little or no wind at all that day.
Very Exiting

I think the Average White Bloke on this forum is not up with the language of today. Bob Geldof indeed.
Rocky is a clever pun on the place people wish fast great wonderfull boats end up.

Oh no! I was being obtuse. Re; Live 8, the portable toilet fiasco, Edinburgh Rock, jobbies.
Never mind. It didn't come off.

We have to know when to move on.

Sorry Lake Sailor I am being a bit thick today weather wont play ball. There is another great buzz word for the guy.
A great boat is a bally boat as in that is a bally great boat.

................. force 8 increasing 9 imminant ................

this is VERY EXITING to sailors, substitute the numbers if you feel like an old sea salt and are bored with eights and nines

By and Large - means a boat that sails well by the wind (close hauled) and large (wind on or abaft the beam) - therefore a good all rounder

Clap on - grab hold
