Can anyone suggest a simple to sail 20-22 footer with very little draft (draught?) for sailing a very shallow part of the Med (Costa Daurada), easy to jump off for swimming - and to get back on, lifting keel (sandbanks), and decently powerful engine (sudden squalls and gales). Budget up to GBP12K. OR a motor boat with large cockpit and small ´below decks´... not much time spent below so the Hardy is not suitable me thinks! Anyone in this forum sailing around LÁmpolla, LÁmetlla ??

Where are you thinking of buying this boat? Lots of boats go cheap in Spain when the dream fades and people can't wait too long for the money...talking about lots of deals at half valuation!!

Not sure why such a shallow draught required as you'll find the majority of the yachts are way above 10 mtrs and have no problems. Motor boats are more popular with the locals and get you there and back quicker...diesel yesterday was 80cents a litre, more than red but a lot less than road over here.

Easyjet are doing some silly fares to Barcelona, Alicante etc. at the moment..just done a return for £34 and the most we are paying between now and July is £50 return. Nip over mid week and run round a couple of marinas for it could well save you a lot of dosh.
