Hi, I've planned to take my powerboat from Denmark to lake Como, Italy for approximately one week in late July. I was wondering if there is something I should be aware of of any kind, and where I can get the boat in the water. I have search a bit but haven't found any slipways or marinas where I can get it in the water. The boat is a 4.90 meters console boat with a 60 hp and I have a speedboat certificate. So my question is where do I get the boat in the water from a trailer and is there something I should be aware of, by transporting a boat from Denmark to Italy? I really hope that there is someone who can help because I really would like to sail on the lake Como.

In the early noughties we were craned in (20ft sports boat) at Menaggio from premises now seemingly occupied by Lario Boat Services, it may have been them at the time but can't remember. The crane that launched us can be seen on Google maps and streetview so worth a try.
We camped at the site next door and kept the boat at anchor off the campsite beach.

Dpb, those premises were actually the HQs of the historical Colombo boatbuilder, now sadly not operative anymore.
I don't know which type of assistance this Lario Boat Service can offer, but in that area the most popular marina (where I also kept my boat for several years) is Navalia, just one km further N along the coast.

There are several other yards anyhow, spread all around the lake coast, like Nausika in Colico, Nautica Domaso in Domaso, Airon Marine or Mostes in Lezzeno, Abbate in Tremezzo, just to name those which I used in one occasion or another.
Anyway, just in case MagnusG was looking for a free boat slip from which to launch his boat, I can only think of two of them which were already in a very sad state the last time I've been there 15 years ago or so, and I doubt that things improved since then.

Generally speaking, launching a 5m boat isn't a problem for any of the yards I mentioned anyway, as well as several others.
But it's worth mentioning that none of them will ever be famous for offering attractive prices.
Just to put what I'm saying in perspective, for my last lake toy (a 27' boat), I had an excellent service:
boat always stored inside, launched 20 mins after calling to inform of my arrival - all inclusive.
In fact, I didn't even need to antifoul her.
BUT, it did cost me almost twice as much as I'm now paying for my 56 footer in Sardinia...!

Ref. anything else to be aware of, for boats up to 40hp no license is required in Italy, and above that reciprocity rule applies, within EU.
So, whatever is required to helm your boat in Denmark (if anything) will be fine also in Italy.
I believe only a third party insurance is mandatory anyway - also for boats under 40hp.

Thanks a lot for your help. I will try to search more about the places your mention and have a look if it possible to use them.

Hello! So it's been a few years, possibly the original poster will not see this, but I'm interested to know how it went. I'm going to Lake Como in August and am wondering about the same thing, where to best launch my boat. It's a 17 foot mahogany runabout that I'd preferably launch off the trailer myself. I'd be happy to hear any experience anyone has had in the lake with their own boat, launching, mooring, fueling, etc. Thanks!
