Hello
I am looking for some help from anyone that travels around the med.

What are the rules about specifically moving from France to Italy and their "ports of entry".

Is it a rule that you MUST enter Italy at a dedicated port of entry or can you arrive at any port (UK passport / EU registered boat)

I'll be armed with insurance documents (in Italian language, proof of ownership, VAT status etc).

Thanks

Once in the EU there is no need to use ports of entry when going from one EU country to another EU country
That depends on whether you are spending time sailing in international waters from one country to another and want to preserve your Schengen "days"

If they will let you! Portuguese immigration refused to clear us out to go to Canaries. I explained that we would be in international waters. They refused. I said in that case we don't have enough days left from our 90 so we will clear out and go straight to the Cape Verde. She then cleared us out. Spanish authorities in Lanzarote weren't interested in clearing us back in so that worked?

Everyday is a school day... thank you.

Our plan is....
pick the boat up in South of France (EU)
spend time along the west coast of Italy (stopping along the route), passing Scilly, along the South coast of Italy. (EU)
The final leg is to set off from Otanto (South East Italy - the heel) to Montenegro (non-EU)

In this case, I guess Italian customs would need to clear us through immigration to depart for Montenegro.

Correct?

Thanks for further info.

Interesting - why did Portuguese refuse your departure to the Canaries?
