Having been persuaded by SWMBO to chill out, she has booked a week's holiday in Mallorca from Tuesday next week.
I hope to spend the week mooching around a few boating haunts. Can anyone recommend suitable sites (including bars) around the west side of Palma/Illetas. If necessary, I can always hire a car to travel further afield.
Many thanks

Literally thousands of boats and bars in and around the harbour in Palma! You will find them!

I hope the weather holds out for you both, it is a lovely 26-28c at the moment. I would definitely say hire a car they are fairly reasonable (around €20/day or less) one of the great things about mallorca is that even to the far end from Palma is less than one hour and with the silly season over the roads are back to being quite pleasant, if you can ignore the rather erratic spanish driving style.

Too many excellent bars and restaurants to mention, try Peurto Portals if you like mixing with the "beautiful people", La Llonja (near the cathedral) if you fancy a nie stroll, there are plenty of good bars and restaurants to choose from.

Hope you have a pleasant time,

Russell.

If you're still out there on Oct 21, we're likely to be moored at Pier 46 marina in Palma for a few days from then

Palma's fab...go to Abaco in the Carrera Sant Joan for sublime cocktails in gorgeous gothic palace courtyard (no jeans). Go to La Boveda in Carrera de Boteria for fantastic tapas. Both places are in the middle of town, just off the Placa Llotja. Baisakhi on the Paseo Maritimo is the most amazing Indian restaurant...extraordinary subtle and intricate flavours, quite unlike your average Brit tandoori.

West of Palma, Puerto Portals is always good for a gawp at the bog boats, a top burger at Welly's (Wellies?), or Bismark if you fancy proper food, and a late-night drinking session at the Squadron Bar (say hi to Trevor and Stuart for me). Andratx is pretty, and there are plenty of waterside bars. But hire a car and take off around the island to see the north-east coast, Deia (Deya?) and Pollenca and the Cabo Formentor.
