Perhaps a useful thread to keep rolling to help others avoid the dreadful shame of a Thames boating faux pas.

To launch, somebody here was sniffy about the Dunlop tennis shoes I like to wear on my tiny boat. I'm desperate to fit in so nipped out today and bought these:

I feel they have a slightly more nautical feel and may be better thought of. There was also a blue and white stripped long sleeved top but I wasn't sure if that was a bit 'pirate' more than admiral.

I need urgent advice on this please - it's only another four weeks until it gets warmer and other boaters might be there to see me...

Moxy, we don't wear shoes if weather permits!

Therefore, you could be overdressed by BCC standards...

We only don Blazers et all about three times a year mate! :)

Already it is becoming complicated. Because of SC's enthusiasm I removed the shop tags. Now NR says I could have gone 'Huckleberry'.

I feel I'm committed to the blue pumps now - for this season at least.

What about socks? I've a cracking pic of my feet in the shoes with black socks between the two. Clearly a photo which will be passed around by the forum ladies. But it's not about sexy feet, it's about what colour socks does the proper boater wear. I can't upload the sock pic. The forum says I've exceeded my quotia. And my feet aren't actually that large.

Sorry to break the news but this simply will not do.Personally am very rarely seen off afloat without Blazer and Greys at the very least, preferably with blazer and whites, even when changing oil etc.
On special occassions when being visited by other clubs may relax rules and all are welcome to wear mankinis, but only in club colours.............
