2011 Yamaha 9.9hp 4-stroke repair kit:

Basically a float , a couple screws, a small gasket, a needle and a Mickey Mouse O ring = US$67.05 which finally cost me a total of US$115.84.

Appreciated that that would be a less expensive solution, ?

BUT not practicable as the engine is required to power Corsair F-27 trimaran and in my mid 60's I certainly don't have the manpower for paddling. ?

27'0" with a 19'0" beam.

I look at it like this , how much to buy the materials for the job how long to make the bits , even if you had the skill !, now they are a bargain , ps I forgot you have to go to the US to fetch.

A good sailor does not need an engine.
I learnt under the late Philip Walwyn who built, owned and sailed 'KATE' an Alfred Milne America's Cup First Rule Gaff rigged 12 metre.

Kate did not have an engine. (She does now - different owner/caretaker and sailor]

Philip described it as a 'symphony of simplicity.'

Yes, I would say Philip was a bloody good sailor.

Agree…I bought a boat with a modern 4 stroke outboard to use weekly, in order to keep my special and rare v8 boat in good order and with the notion that it would be cheaper to run too. Save me money I thought…
What actually happened is that it undoubtedly seems to be twice as good on fuel…but also meant that I now use it three times as frequently as I did the v8…you can no doubt see the fault in my logic !
