Boating accident on the Medway

Saw that yesterday, typically crap KentOnline reporting. If you can make out what happened from that I’ll be impressed!

So, two boat owners think it's a good idea to ignore the current regulations and go out anyway. The result of which, is four ambulances, four police vehicles and a helicopter have to attend, that's likely to be ten key workers, exposed to one another and the people from the boats. One elderly woman has gone to hospital, don't suppose her risk of exposure would have increased.

Does this highlight why we shouldn't be out on our boats ?

Does this make boat owners look bad ?

Are incidents like this going to influence the decision making process for relaxing the regulations ?

I've read the article and it doesn't say anything to justify your conclusion that two boat owners had ignored the regulations and gone out anyway. Until more is ascertained and more information available, we can't tell if one had been stolen and crashed into a marina boat that was working or if there were other explanations.

So can we not have another i'm right he's wrong argument concerning this lockdown until we have the facts, because without the facts we don't have an argument. We are all in this together, we are all missing out boats but it seems to me there are a few little dictators on this forum telling others what they can and cant do and it's getting a little tiresome.

What ever happen, it should not have done if the drivers acted like real sailors & stopped at home, you are defending the indefensible

Also
'Angus Dainty who lives in the marina added: "It was a boat collision on the River Medway with two boats one with members of the marina in it which was struck by another faster moving boat."

Of course he could be lying, but can't see a reason why he would

On the contrary, I am not defending anyone. I am just not jumping to the conclusion that it was two boat owners breaking the current regulations. Show me the proof they were real sailors who should have stopped at home and not just mindless thugs who have stolen a boat and crashed into a marina boat. Again Old Harry you have jumped to a conclusion that these were real sailors.

Get the facts before jumping to a conclusion.

I used the term ( boat ) drivers & they ought not to have been out & about

You said "What ever happen, it should not have done if the drivers acted like real sailors & stopped at home, you are defending the indefensible". This implies these were real sailors out on their boats. You don't know that.

Good point Alan. I hadn't considered that the elderly woman might have stolen one of the boats and crashed it into a marina workboat. Or, perhaps she was operating the workboat and the theives ran into her.

Two boats collided. At speed? No regulation or legislation broken? Really?
One boat stolen? That’s not lawful either? Driving at high speed and hitting another boat not selfish?
The only point I was trying to make was there’s always an element who won’t obey rules, sensible or otherwise and carry on as though they’re the only people who matter, regardless of consequences to others. A variation on the 80/20 rule?

I am unclear as to whether 'members of the marina' means clients or staff. If they were staff going about their business, then I see no reason to criticise them, at least, if I make the assumption that it was the other boat that was travelling at speed and ignoring lockdown rules.

I put Driver NOT skipper IE speedboat driver
