Boat weight?

I actually would say 1850kg with the AQ130

The V8 would be heavier......

I have always worked on the full thing, full of fuel, on the trailer being 2200KG

I hope Jez is right and I am wrong - because if he is... then I could re-think my towcar options to a much smaller car - use a Grand Cherokee at the mo.

I would def phone Fairline if I were you - 1600 sounds a bit light - although Jez does know his stuff very well.

Just checked Fairline Owners Club - they are quoting around 1750kg completely dry (no fuel or water) with a base engine

I think you are definately looking at 1900kg with the V8 at the least with more to add for any fuel or water in the tank.

Have you had an offer accepted then??

Well done - although in this market, it's certainly a good one for the buyer!

I think you'll love the boat - good luck

Have made a (very low) offer-but the girlfriend has independently researched what the seller has told the broker he will accept, and will go to that if necessary!
Made all the usual noises about how it could need re-engining at vast expense, storage, transport, bla bla.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Trailer hire place has a three-axle jobby that looks like it could carry the Titanic, so 1600kg or 2 tonnes not a problem.....now I just need to find somewhere I can hire a 4x4 in the Southampton area...

You should be able to hire a new shape RWD Trainsit with a towbar on it they have a max gross tow cap of 2800kg . As has been said the boat is 1750kg so even with fuel , the bigger engine and trailer is going to be no more than 2600kg.We use them at work for towing about that weight and they are fine. Should also be cheaper to hire than a 4 x 4.

Hi there,

does anyone know the tow weights for the older Transits - around C1999-2002 as I might get one of these for towing and get rid of the Grand Cherokee for daily use.

I have heard that they will tow around 2500kg - but then only paperwork I can find suggests more like 1800kg

I am thinking LWB RWD version.

Thanks

Grant

Nah - bit arduous towing that kind of weight even with the right kind of car.

Was the intention, but the trailer I have is rubbish so I only tow at most twice a year - hence the thinking why own a jeep 365 days a year when I need it twice... better to use a van which I DO need quite often and have a smaller more efficient car the rest of the time.

Wouldn't mind doing a bit of trailer sailing though if it was for a week or so but not for a weekend.

Any of the new shape 00- RWD Transits will cover that weight and most of the front wheel drive ones will to , but this is not the Transit Connect that only has a 1200kg max tow cap
