Boat wash in straits.......

Inspected the treacle mine tonight and it's working fine, the only problem we have is makeing sure that the miners are totally bald as the suction caps dont work if a bit hairy.

It's a health and safety sort of thing, we kept loosing one or two many miners..

We are studying the other option of employing women, as two suction caps can be employed, which should be alot safer. Though the swinging attitude would be different. Maybe we would need a bigger shaft.

I've noticed that in Wales, raggies and smallish boats are very frightened of our Mbo wash, when we slow down to prevent a problem, they are very grateful. I don't think a lot of Mbo's in Wales have any comprehension of the damage their wash can cause.

Hello N. Wales folks. Anyone know anything about this. I wasn't down this weekend, oh and my boat isn't 50 feet! C'mon who was it.........?

There was lots going on at Menai yesterday
A Maxum turned over and the occupants were spilled out at about 11.30 hours
Spring tide and lots of current as usual but the 'turnover' was more due to inexperience.
I heard a 'shout' and saw Beaumaris lifeboat plus two shore based Personel searching off Menai Bridge by the Pier.
4 People were returned to safety and the shore from the Sportsboat.
I thought that was that!

There were one or two rowing boats getting towed back to Menai from the Brittania bridge.
Thought nothing of it, except the boats looked different to the normal stuff seen hereabouts.

At 12.00 I passed under Brittania bridge towards Caernarfon.
A 36 ft Mobo was making towards the Bridge, heading to Menai.
She was probably making 10 kts but punching 6 kts of tide.
Result -- effin big wake!

Thats what peeps don't allow for, the rate of kts tides make around here.
'But I was only doing 8 kts' etc etc etc
Yeh but Bird Brain, against the bloody tide yer dozy terwat!

It's seen in the Conwy estuary/river and the Strait all over the place.

Ha! on me way to Caernarfon yesterday I was passed by a yacht, I was making 5kts (in a speed limit) this yacht pissed past me, must have been doing 10kts easy
4 kts of tide and a good force 3/4 up his zaxi with all cloth flying.
Near spilt me coffe:eek:

Had a quick word with the 'Speed Cop' man on me way back, ref the tearaway yachttie:)
Had a good chortle about that but said 'Copper' hadn't noticed the speeding 50 footer earlier so no help there I,m afraid.

Daftest Mobo going too quick scenario I,ve ever witnessed was some pillock approaching Padstow harbour/marina a few years back.
Again about 50 ft doing about 20 kts about 100 yds from the entrance:eek:
He got lucky, plus a rollicking:rolleyes:

So maybe it aint just a Welsh thing
Mind you he could've been Cornish so thats pretty close;)
Mind you most of the Mobos I,ve noticed in Wales are not helmed By the Welsh:D:D:D

Anyway
Seems there were no fatalities so thats good.

22 flew over PD and the bridges in a circling pattern at that time. It brings out all the girls waving at William. It had to get out of the way of two Hawks - odd for them to be flying on a Saturday - which I assume were on their way to a Battle of Britain event.

Later on I saw some dozy bu&&er in a big RIB who looked like he was on another planet.

seems to have been one of the rowing shells from opposite Menai Bridge that broke in half, I think they are designed to break in two for transport - but not while boarding! Glad no-one hurt, but the cost of a replacement eight will be beyond the club I fear.

There was also an individual in a small mobo that got in trouble (engine failure?) near Puffin.
