I have a 1978 17 foot Oyster cuddy cabin type boat.

It has a 5 year old Yanmar 9HP diesel, shaft drive, tiller, sea legs, fish finder, bilge pump, good condition, a quality road trailer - blah blah blah.

It was built in Cornwall and is a traditional small seagoing fishing boat. See weblink for picture.

I have been trying to sell it for the past six months - advertised at £4,950.

I have had very little interest in the boat - does the forum think this is overpriced - if so what would be a more realistic price - or should I hold out longer for the sale?

I want a newer, bigger boat that I can sleep and cook on - or rather the wife and child does....

Well! I think they are super little boats but you are pitching to a limited market. I know you are going to get the 'ump but I see her at £2,000 less than what you are asking. Take no notice of me, see what others say. You have her advertised in the right place I see.

The boat is great fun - especially in the choppy conditions on Windermere when it's windy. I haven't been brave enough to do any estuary stuff yet cos I don't have any suitable safety equipment except Life Jackets and air horn. The boat spends most of its life on the Lower Avon near Tewkesbury and is great for chugging around in the summer.

She's at her best when it's choppy - unfortunately the wife and child don't appreciate the spray so I get to go out on my own quite a lot.

However I get the sort of comments that imply "get a bigger drier boat that we can come with you"......

Agree with you Byron, my immediate thought was 2 - 2.5K. Don't think you've got much chance at almost £5000.

I think £1500 yes you got ripped off. There are hundreds for sale like this and these days it's a buyers market. I recently brought a little Dejon14 all up with goode outboard and trailer plus saftey gear for £475 !! and there are loads similar in size and price.

Cheers
Mick

I think you are all forgetting that Madfrank's boat has the build of a heavy duty workboat and has a diesel engine. She is in another class and cannot be compared with something like a Dejon or anything with an outboard for that matter. To the right person she would be well worth 2-3k.

No I know what it is but most people dont look at that cos it's the bottom line and as we all know it's a buyers market . In another 6 weeks most run for cover and the bottom falls out of the market, but prove me wrong and sell it for loads and loads .

cheers
Mick
