Boat use in France

Does anyone know what the requirements are to use a "powered" boat in France?
I have 19ft ex commercial fishing boat with a 20hp outboard; also a 3m inflatable with an 8hp outboard as a Tender.
The idea is that we would take the boats with us on holiday next year.
Any advice would be gratefully received

How are you getting it there? Cus the rules are different trailing it to sailing it there.
Trailing it, you could well be asked for an ICC to launch but it doesn't need SSR.
Sailing it, it needs SSR but you don't need an ICC.
If going on VNF waterways you need an ICC and the Code Européen des Voies de la Navigation Intérieure (CEVNI) permit and navigation rulebook.

I was told that at one time the French Ports people were making life very difficult for boat owners from the UK

ICC - International Certificate of Competence
SSR - Small Ships Register (like a passport for the boat)

What do you need to get ICC - Is day skipper enough or is there more to it?

day skipper is fine
or any basic RYA mobo course as the French are mainly interested in handling under power when launching from slip or on canals.

If you pass the Day Skipper and are a member of the RYA then they will issue you an ICC free.
