Gentlemen

I am considering moving my Finesse 24 by road from its current mooring in Gillingham to the Norfolk Broads. I have only had one quote so far for for about £700 which doesn't sound too bad. Anyone out there got any personal recommendations for boat transport companies?

A mate got his Moody 31 moved from Portsmouth to Benfleet 3 years ago for £300. Try Ray Loveland at Dauntless Boatyard, Benfleet 01268 756511

When I sold my Snappie 26 in 2006 to a man from Ireland I asked him how much it would be to Holyhead and that was £700.

Where did you get the price from Harrods?

I moved my CW 24' from Yarmouth to Tyneside last year with Beverley Transport Hull 01482 881502 or 01482 865636 for £450.00
Ask for Doug.
You will always get a better deal if you are not desperate and wait a short while until the company is delivering in your area and is looking for a 'back load', I waited three weeks and save 100's compared with other quotes.
I have used Beverley twice and well recommend them, no they are not the cheapest but after spending thousands I knew my boat would be in good hands!.

Another vote for Beverley Transport. Great outfit and very caring. If your boat is over 12ft go as second man in the cab (Legal requirement), super experiance. I went down with them with one boat from Newark to the Norfolk broads and came back with our boat. Saved a few bob as well. Would not have missed it!

Those are crazy prices!!A 3.5 ton boat trailer can be bought new for £2000 and half secondhand,i saw one for 1200€

As it happens i wanted to rent one to move my FB of course i couldent find one. That is for a boat but i found lots of car trailers.Yesterday for example i found one 3.5ton cost 25€ per day plus insurance which in France is given without extra charge.

So why dose it cost so much to move a small boat?

I moved my Colvic from Hull to Ramsgate using Beverley Transport - Doug. Very efficient, arrived on time and on budget.
Much less hassle than buying a trailer and DIY.

Strongly recommend Jim Brett. He's based at Queenborough, so close to you. He's done several moves for me, he's excellent and very reasonable prices, and looks after your boat as though it's his own. Local code plus 668263.
