45ft Flybridge boat, which is likely to be cheaper, by sea or by road ?

Assume in each case I will be using a licensed and insured company.

I don't know which would be cheaper. But if you choose by sea I know a guy in Pwllheli who is a very experienced skipper (RNLI helmsman, RYA instructor). He takes the jobs like that.

I brought my boat to Portishead (40' Fly) from the Hamble, cost £850, a friend took a 45' Fly from the Hamble to Penarth for £950. Cost to sail round a bit more I think, especially if you use a pro skipper to help. I was quoted 2 days at £200 per day plus X's, so say £500 plus fuel. not sure of your distance tp Pwllheli, but if you know the distance, then assume 1 Nm per gallon, you wont be far out.

My old princess 410 was picked up from swanwick to Swansea, a return load around £550. I'd ring around to see who's taking what where, that's the best way for a deal.

Thanks all.
It seems from a few enquiries that road transport is slightly cheaper and more reliable (schedule wise).
That's one box ticked. Hopefully we will secure Cozzy III in the coming weeks ;)

If the weather is good I would sail your boat round - It may work out a bit more expensive but by god you will remember the trip for a long time - better than writing out a check any day - Not sure of your experience but do you need a delivery skipper..
On another note I did 680 nm in 3 weeks and still recall that trip every day - I need to post this in a few weeks time to share with you guys :encouragement:

Agree it would be a fantastic trip however, time constraints dictate that I hire in the pro's

I look forward to reading your trip report ;)
