Went out for a little farewell sail in Slippy today. Lovely warm sunshine and boisterous breeze, gusting F4.
Sailed off and back onto to the mooring and even managed to flake the mainsail down well.
Next trip will be motoring round to the slipway.

er , confused here , diesel prices going up , so you sell your sail boat and change to your mobo ?? I thought I was the only one here that had lost the plot , at least I'm hedging my bets
 
Yeah, cunning plan. Lakey has realised that the cops are such tightwads with their juice he can do what he likes. Also windermere types now seem to have a weird idea of what 10 knots looks like - "not quite flat out" seems the norm...
 
a speedo on windymere is just breaking all the bounds innit , speed limits , higher fuel prices , lakey sells up to use a mobo , very confused here
 
perhaps he does n't get the time to sail and can now go out

when he wants not be soley reliant on the wind

Give that man a prize. We get a maximum of about 4 hours available for a sail and it will always (according to Sod's Law) be in the part of the day when the wind dies. Usually we drift about, airing the sails, and when we get near to home the wind starts picking up. Which is not just annoying but means the sail was even less satisfying. We've never managed to get to the bottom of the lake yet, and usually have to motor part of the way on most days out.
I get out on my own sometimes and choose the wind conditions more selectively, but it's still only a couple of hours and less inclusive, Mrs Lakesailor still being at home.
The new day launch is similar to the type you can hire on the lake with an open cabin, but it happens that this one had a 70 HP engine. If that proves to be a mistake I'm sure I could flog the motor and replace it with a 25 or 30 HP at no extra cost. It is only 4.6 metres and has a good trailer, so other lakes and the sea beckon.
I'll be building an small experimental trimaran to keep the sailing experience alive and will be trying to defray the cost of running the MOBO with www.boatshots.co.uk, a little photography "for profit and fun" as they say.

Nice new site. I will try to let you know when Coniston SC are expecting visitors who might like to be photographed in all their glory and in spectacular suroundings. Im sure you would always be welcome on the Safety boat
 
I like the websit but would shrink from getting professional pictures of my 'mistress', if I wasn't married to her.

I still don't know what to do with the ones I got taken of SWMBO to celebrate her fortieth. Not reall the sort of thing you can frame in the lounge, after all! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
