/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif having visited my boat last week at largs noticed that my cockpit window had been slashed with a knife, what perverted pleasure do people get from damaging peoples pride and joy,on contacting the marina office about this i was told that several motor boats have been damaged with a knife including a brand new jet rib that was to be used as a tender got a couple of breeze blocks and chain ready if we catch the offender or would it be better to make them walk the plank. the marina dont seem to be that interested in making other berth holders aware of the problem, so that we could all be more vigilant, but i suppose it would harm their business if people are made aware of the problem.so far no yachts seem to have been damaged be the perpentrator,i will let you draw your own conclusion on the matter

What conclusion is that? You're not suggesting it's a raggie surely.
Perhaps the sick individual finds plastic canopy windows and large Rib tubes more exciting and accessible to slash than the small windows on sprayhoods, if fitted.
The marina security would seem a bit wanting.

i had a motor boat moored at fell foot park on windermere for 15 years and never once did i have any problems with it getting damaged apart from the seaguls droppings, and their are plenty of sailers on winderemere. but from the people that i have spoken to, we just find it a little strange that no yachts were damaged or there tenders slashed even though. the person responsible for the damage had to pass some yacht, and before any one suggests, i am not prejudiced against sailors as i enjoy sailing myself and have just completed my dayskipper pratical on a yacht and intend completeing the coastalskipper pratical with scotsail in scotland soon with the intentions of purchasing a yacht when i can convince the wife.

Actually the term "yacht" doesn't exclusively mean a sailing vessel. Its definition is "a vessel used for pleasure cruises" which implies that it is of a reasonable size and could be power or sail.

Borax, why not start it again. According to chambers online disctionary :- yacht; noun a boat or small ship, usually with sails and often with an engine, built for racing or cruising.
ETYMOLOGY: 16c: from Dutch jachtschip chasing ship.
But then again I'm with CLion. !
