Boat sinking news video

Thats very sad,
New owners too, they must feel sick, not a good start for 2009, wonder how the previous owner feels too, I think I would be gutted knowing what had happened.

Glad to hear all ok.
Suprised to see the Radar still twirling round as she sinks, hope they get back afloat soon.

Judging by the weird two anchors arrangement and the asymmetrical radar mast, definitely a 20m Baglietto.
Surely not 20 ft as shown in the clip, anyway!
Sad sight indeed.

"the owner of the boat declined to comment"

I'm not surprised. I hope it was insured, but wonder about what might have been the problem to take on so much water and so fast that it isn't noticed. I wonder if a bowthruster was (not) fitted?

"....a more fastidious safety conscious bloke might have checked the liferafts"

Would you have?

I know, we all would now!

Yes, it must be that boat as the report says "The crew of the boat were on their passage from Gosport to Dartmouth, as the owners were from Bristol". Also I doubt there's more than one 20m Baglietti in the UK anyway?

Oddly enough, i most likely would have. Mainly because of how the liferaft was fastened to my current boat when i bought her. The previous owner had lashed it to the back of the sunbridge ladder with several yards of rope and a zillion granny knots. Must have took me 20 minutes to untie it /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

But as you say, definitely would do now.

Such a shock.
I remeber seeing this yacht on ebay and was also advertised in the back of varios mags, I was interested in her when i was looking for a liveaboard.
If i remeber correctly the vessel had a full survey, which highlighted only minor repairs.
It is definately the same boa as the name Aderwa sticks in my mind.
My deepest sympathy for the current owner, I hope things work out for him.

"All four men aboard the 20-metre motor cruiser Addarwa escaped uninjured and were carried away by helicopter as two lifeboats from Weymouth arrived at the scene, a mile south of Portland." it says she is called the Addarwa

Thought i recognised her, just checked the boat name with my local harbour master and it is indeed a 20m Baglietto, wooden construction.

This was moored a couple of boats away from me last year at Wisbech and was a live-aboard for you young couple and their son. She was sold to someone from Bristol last November and he was in the process of taking the boat home to Bristol when she sank.

No idea why she went down, apart of course from a sudden and very rapid ingress of water.
She was, apparently, a lovely boat /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
