The Albin Vega club always meets at the Boat Show and we have a Buffet/Supper afterwards. Problem is that the Excel Centre is too far away from Earls Court to use my Mum's hospitalty! We need a reasonably priced Restuarant/Cafe near to the boat Show that can cater for up to 25 persons at about 19:00. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Why not try

Good one Charles.

As a regular visitor to Limehouse and the east end (We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express, Limehouse for the second time since it opened last September this weekend) I can say that I find the restaurants in the area TURGID to say the least. Now if you want a treat at VERY reasonable prices, carry on up the Burdett Rd from Limehouse until you get to the Mile End Road. On your left you will see the "Venus in the Park". Parking outside easy. Or by tube, DLR to Bow Church/Bow Road and then either walk the short distance or change to District/ Ham. & City one stop to Mile End, which is across the road from the restaurant. (Modern British/french /Greek.) We'll be eating there this sunday lunchtime.

For something special you could try barge Leven is Strijd a beautifullly fitted Dutch barge run as a restarant catering for private parties, Great food in a fabulous setting but not averse to a lively evenings drinking. Talk to Lorna the owner and see if they can accommodate your budget. The web site is www.theleven.co.uk. It is on one of the docks near Canary Wharf.
