Boat shoes

Trainers, when getting too tired to fulfil their nominal purpose, are ideal boat wear. One stage further on in the cycle, they become painting shoes.

Some times I do wear shoes as the deck an get so hot it can burn your feet unless I spray the deck with water to cool it down.

Reading that here in wintery England brings back lovely memories of being HOT! Alas, the sun tan is fading and the English nose will drip for the next several months.

Who wears shoes when on a boat.

Shoes are not allowed on my boat.

I wouldn't get on a boat without them. Although when I say shoes I basically mean some tan-soled converse with white rims. Surprisingly grippy...but then, the decks they've been on never got particularly wet. Unfortunately black soles can leave some unsightly marks on the deck of white boat. They certainly grip better than my own feet do and give (albeit minimal) protection from stubbing my toe and skinning my ankle against one of the stays(?).

Oh and they keep any blood inside the shoe :D.

Also thanks for that link earlier about those boots they look interesting :D.

What frost, never had frost where my boat is. As I said before sometimes the deck is too hot to walk on and have to spray the deck with water to cool it down so you don't burn your feet.

I remember years ago a flotilla yacht that had a removable cockpit table that fitted into a dark-metal plate on the sole. Which was in sunlight most of the day and got up to dangerous temperatures unless frequently splashed!

Mike.
