Boat Shoes

Sorry, I realise this may be naive but I've just bought myself a pair of 'boat' shoes from Clarks and before I wear them in/out I just wanted to check that they're suitable...I've been told to buy ones that are rubber soled and not black so that they don't mark the boat, however mine have a circular navy blue bit in the middle of the foot and heel - before my dad kills me for ruining his boat could someone just take a look at them and let me know if they look okay?????

This is a petty question but I don't know much about boats, sailing or the stuff to buy.

It's generally trainers with black soles and "normal" shoes that mark decks, anything deckshoesque should be fine.

Those Clarks look good to me.

Ps you'll make a great crew if you care for the boat and the skipper's feelings as much as you appear to.

I have used standard Clarks Boat Shoes on the boat for the last few years and have had no marking problems. Actually I have found them perfectly OK and grip is as good as any snobbo brand shoes at twice the price or more.

They look great. I noticed that the left heel has a red insert. This is very good.

Does the right heel have a green insert? If so, they are the very best.

Wear them indoors to break them in. Watch out for fine gravel getting in the treads - it can scratch decks. And enjoy the sailing.

The code is 203437374,they are ionia lace navy/white and they are on sale for £34 reduced from £69.99. if you go on the clarks website they say they no longer stock them but if you phone the shops they have them in there.
