Hi

I'm close to agreeing to enter a 50/50 boat share agreement.
The boat, a 1989 Feeling 346, will be based in Port Camargue.

I would welcome any information or advice on :

Terms for inclusion in the share agreement
Feeling 346

Thanks

I suggest that the most important aspect to cover is how to get out of the share if the partners become irretrievably incompatitible.

Also - how to resolve differences in case of :

clash of dates
money to spend on upkeep / improvements
How to cover the unavailability of the boat caused by the other partner's damage to it. etc;

ie cover as many of the potentially nasty situations as possible - this means having a full and frank duscussion with the other partner.

When you are sure that these are covered in writing then put the agreement in the safe and get on with enjoying your sailing and companionship.

Psychological aspects....

I once considered chartering my boat, but decided against it as I realised all my personal possessions would need to be brought on and off the boat each use, and the boat wouldn't be mine. Of course, I was turning down possibly a fair sum, but I am selfish.

Would you have a similar sort of thing? Could your fellow sharers leave all their kit aboard, and if 'yes' - what limits on what they could leave? And if 'no', then that applies to you too.

You have probably thought of that, but leaving your personality aboard is the bigdifference between having your own boat (which, tho it be smaller, cos its all your money - it is, nevertheless, all your own) and not.

Since you are happy to NOT have your own boat, have you worked out the balance between sinking your money into your share, and just chartering when and where you want?

(I don't have to agree with YOUR opinions, but I'll defend your right to express them).
