Have been looking for likely new boats, & come up with something like the Sunseeker portofino 48.

However, giving it some more thought, we are likely to be getting grandchildren at some point so a little more accommodation would probably be a good idea. Also as we will not be getting any younger we want to keep things like stairs, canvas etc. to a minimum. Also would like IPS or something similar, & a full beam master.

Problem being we want to keep it around 50ft as we want to maximize the chances of getting berths at various marinas along the coast & beyond.

Could do with some ideas please.

Princess V48 or V52 maybe . We have two V52 neighbors and both owners love them , in fact one goes out on a regular basis single handed ( fishing )
Edit , sorry not pods are they :(

When you say 'a little more accomodation' do you mean number of cabins/beds or volume of cabins/saloon? The two are quite different.

Three cabin sports boats under 50ft are rarer than their two cabin siblings, not unheard of but those that exist are likely to precede the full width mid owners cabin fashion. With the master cabin in the bow it was possible to get two twins under the cockpit.

I dont understand your pods requirement - shafts really are no harder to drive/park and the fuel benefit of pods really is neglegable.

The only boat I can think of that ticks all your boxes is the Beneteau GT 49 (second hand ones might show up as a Monte Carlo 47/GT47). It has a full beam owners cabin, two furthe cabins, hard top to reduce canvass, pods (i think IPS) and a level cockpit and cabin, with just one set of steps (though as with most high freeboard modern boats the steps are quite a height. It also has a tender garage which is a plus potentially.

The third cabin does mean no lower saloon though - but this is the price you pay for the full beam owners cabin.

edit: The new GT46 might offer you enough space in a newer package as well, though not going to be any second hand

If you consider the Presige Coupes a sports boat, then the 500s would be worth a look - 3 cabins and a crew option, patio doors but in all intense and purposes its a flybridge boat without the flybridge. That saves some weight for sure but its not a true 'sports' boat in the absolute sense.

Im sure NP will strongly disgree with me here, but other than cost I cant see why youd have the S over the FB version

If the pods/mid cabin werent on the list I would have (I addition to the boats above) suggested the Windy 52 Xanthos - excellent boat but a more traditional layout.

A Prestige 500s would seem to tick most of your boxes.
Will be surprised if Nigelpickin is not along shortly to confirm.

Happy with shafts & thrusters, hydronautica which we have on Abs works well with shafts (or sterns). Looking at 3 cabins.

That does open up the market somewhat, though the full beam owner is going to mean a third bunk cabin or liekly no saloon.

The Targa 48 had the option of a third bunk cabin. The Targa 50 had a more traditional layout with the master forward but the master is very spacious and feels very light due to the oversized hull windows and glass roof
