Boat rubber stamp

Hi

I am considering getting an official looking boat stamp for our sailing in the Med this year which I understand a number of boats carry.

I was thinking of what info to include, possibly;

Boat name
Skipper name
SSR
Port of registry
Date

Any suggestions of where to get one would be gratefully received

Also does anyone have a standard format for a crew list

We have a circular stamp with 'Yacht Rampage, Falmouth, UK' round the edge and 'SSR 92333' in a horizontal bar across the centre. No date, that just gets too complex and the stamp too large. That said, never actually used it for any ships documents, it mainly used for geocaching.
We got it made by one of the many companies offering self inking stamps on the inter website. Cost about £20 iirc and arrived about 3 days after ordering.

We have had one since about 1997, details as yours but plus our 'Straitshooter' logo and minus the skipper's name. I doubt if we have used it more than ten times and half of them for non-serious purposes.

We also never had a stamp and didn't miss it until we went to the Red Sea. The Egyptians like a stamp and aren't happy with just a signature. Life was much easier once we got one.

Apparently if you want to buy duty free fuel in Montenegro you need a boat stamp showing SSR and boat name.

Useful to have a second one which reads something like "AUTHORISED" or "APPROVED" in a different colour,


It all adds ambience.

I used to love producing mine, with a great flourish, in officious Spanish marina offices. I would stamp everything in sight and then scrawl 'M Mouse' over the impression.

Filling in the forms was good fun too:

Often wondered what happened when the forms arrived in Madrid.

Before we left the UK we had a stamp made by a little local printshop/copier/office supplies place, a place that did personal letterheads etc. I designed it, the shop digitised it and made me rubber stamps. Very useful for stamping books, pilots etc that were lent to others and consequently they usually found their way back home. I gave that stamp to the new owner of that boat when we sold it. I would probably get another for next boat. Also used ours to give to visitors as a stamped paper page or postcard e to which if we wanted we added phone numbers etc..
