Someone fired a shotgun at my 20ft sailing boat and did quite a lot of damage. The bullet when through the hull, through the vinyl liner, through a berth cushion, through a aluminium table leg (made by Barka) and finally through a bulkhead. There was also shrapnel damage inside, mostly to the injection moulded deck liner. Having spent all winter doing the boat up ready to launch this weekend, this damage was the last straw, so with the blessing of my insurance I'm looking for a boat repairer who can take care of everything. I appreciate that the mix of sourcing parts and upholstery along with more normal repair work is unlikely to be done from one place only, but I'm hoping there are repairers who can outsource the bits they don't do and just manage the whole repair to completion. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally I would like someone in the Gosport/Hamble area.

A shotgun does not fire 'bullets'. Or perhaps you could argue it fires lots of bullets.

I cannot imagine a shotgun pellet being able to penetrate the hull, let alone the list you give.

Discharging a shotgun in what must be a fairly public area (Gosport/Hamble) at very short range is surely strange?

I was expecting to see this as your first post as a wind up, but it can only be true but I don't get it.

There is a guy in Haslar Marina who is an allrounder called Malcolm but I doubt he does upholstery lol. I could get his number.

Sorry, I'm not a gun expert, but it was definitely a bullet and not shot, so a rifle then. Separately someone has suggested Endeavour quay.

They can as the armed forces and police use them for removing hinges from doors when making an entry into a building.
 
I supose its a good thing that your not needing repairs aswell .the NHS are reasonable all rounders but the do have a problem with cleanliness in some hospitals
 
OP really offended someone. Or was it a random vandalism. What do the police say? Were there any other similar incidents? Was he looking for you and missed?

Police think random vandalism and so do I. Anyway topic covered over in scuttlebutt(with some pics), just wanted some advice on good repairers, as you say.

Malcolm is a great mechanic and electronics guy (and a good mate), but I doubt he'd take this on. I suspect anyone who does take it on would do the GRP work and sub out the upholstery to someone like Coastal Covers in Royal Clarence or Comfort Afloat in Quay Lane.

I think my first move would be to chat to Quay Lane Boatyard. They may well have some ideas that won't break the bank.

sorry to hear your problems, there are some complete scum about.

I'd also ask Thornham Marina, an excellent bunch to deal with and they seem to have good repair people in contact
