Driving home from Tuscany and spending a couple of nights in Lake Lausanne (also called Lake Léman)
Be a bit of fun to hire a boat (say 20ft or a bit less) for half a day.
I’ve googled of course and got a couple of names but interested if anyone has direct experience
We will be based on the French south side kind of opposite the town of Lausanne

I've hired on Lake Geneva before - had to leave a Swiss ID card as deposit. Luckily my friend had one.

I have hired boats on Lake Geneva (Leman) many times.... I did once try to launch my own boat but I chickened out after I got the trailer wheels wet....there was only a ring against a stone wall with no protection from the waves beating against the shore...and the trailer park was so far away that the boat would be unattended for far too long.
Usually I just get a daily bus pass which gives you unlimited travel on the Genevan water buses

Does your pensioners bus pass work over there.

Beautiful, I spent many years living in Chamonix.

Montreux is always worth a trip, a nice drive, but the public transport route is pretty special, getting the ferry across the lake and then 30 minutes or so by train.

If you can't find a boat rental close by and have the time, there are plenty in Annecy. Equally as stunning, if not more so, it's a 1.5 hour drive.
