There is a Mashford 4 tonner in Gibralter for sale at 1750 pounds with the same name as my old Mashford 4 tonner which I bought for 15oo pounds in1976.By the photos someone has spent large amounts of cash and time in resturation.I sold her at a loss ie for 15oo pounds in 1979 ;wooden boats keep their price!

Mirelle was built for £870 in 1937

Sold for £ 2000 in 1950

Sold for £ 15,500 in 1984

Think this says more about Sterling than about the boat!

There is often a large difference between what people ask and what they accept, assuming they really want to sell.
I follow the Bates Starcraft website for boats on sale.
A 45 footer has recently had the asking price reduced from £95 to £75k, and I am told £60k would probably get it.

I have also been looking for an open motor launch under 20 feet and either the prices are daft or the condition is far worse than indicated.

Time to get real, gentlemen. Something is only worth what a buyer is prepared to pay.
