I mentioned in an earlier post that a helicopter took some pictures of our boat as we passed St Tropez. They are real brochure quality shots that you couldn't really get any other way. Unfortunately we had a rope from a front cleat to the bimini as a temporary fix, so i'm going to wait for the next series before we buy them, but if anyone's interested to see them then click on the link below with user name "houghn" and password "ybwforum".

for best view, use the little joystick symbol to set the photo lower on the page, then click "zoom"

Cool Nick! might give them a call, we need some shots done on the 52 Coupe round Cannes way, how did you organise it, did they give you a RV and time and you rocked up or did they just buzz you and then find you later on.

They just buzzed us and they have their web address in huge letters on the side of the chopper. Then I went to the website and put in the boat name and date, and hey presto. Their flying is amazing, they sit about 30 yds ahead of you and fly sideways so the photographer can get the best photos.

Yeah its pretty cool, did one a while ago and they rocked up in an Augusta 109, far out machine!, er, far out hourly rate too /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif he radioed me to say could I go any faster as he couldn't keep the helo stable at slow speed cus being such a slippery shape it tended to wander so he put the gear down to create some drag.

You might never get the chance to buy anymore. Why don't you tell them that you'll buy a couple if they photoshop the rope out? What do they cost btw?

Prints are expensive, but to get a CD with all the images in high definition is £300, which at first seems pricey, but they do have to run a helicopter, pilot and photographer so actually I think its quite reasonable. With the CD I can get prints, posters, whatever, from Jessops.

If they don't snap us again before the end of the season then i'll get the CD and a friend can photoshop them.

Just had a thought, my brother-in-law is a helicpoter pilot, wonder if the RAF would miss him for an hour? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We saw a similar helicopter every day during a recent trip to the area, each day we hoped he would buzz us but our 21 footer was ignored every time in favour of other more 'glamourous' boats, chasing the spending power I guess. Ironical really as we would almost certainly have become customers. The only time we saw them buzz a boat our size was when there was nothing else around at the time!

There are some pretty handy photoshoppers on here too. Just PM Hurricane, he would sort it in no time!

Great pictures, it would be a shame not to get some. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Taking out the rope out is a piece of cake and the images look great apart from that and probably wont need much colour correction either. - I'd go for it - it took me nearly 3 seasons to get a good running shot of our boat. Check the resolution before you commit though.
