Glasplies, here 5L for £6.00 (ex vat, admittedly) = £6.34/gallon (inc VAT - it's been a couple of years since I bought some!). CFS similar: here at £4.97 / gallon (inc VAT), but you have to buy 25L
If you don't have any GRP people locally, try car paint suppliers for gallon cans.
I bow to my elders and betters and admit that the tiny little bottle of acetone was just enough to clean the area of the damaged keel.
Tomorrow, whilst I am picking up an outboard motor in Nottinghamshire, I wll pay a call on a Nottingham based car paint suppliers and buy a big can of the stuff.
Pleased to note othershave told you to tie and block supports together.
The other danger area for sailboats is polishing the sides. Working from height has become a hot topic for Health and Safety. When I did Tower block inspections it was explained to me that there were certain "danger" heights where people falling suffered disproportionate injuries and from memory a band of about 5' to 15' is one of them. I bought a proper working platform this year as while I have previously used a youngman trestle I think at its maximum of 5' it was unstable and frankly unsafe.
I Understand that if the boat spends much time on a trailer rather than in the water, fouling is not going to be as much of an issue as with boats permanently moored. However whilst the boat is in a good position for antifouling I would be inclined to re-coat the whole bottom rather than just touch up a sin your original post. The damage from the photo looks like it may only be scratched paint, although there may be somthing I can not see. Anyway many people would not call that damage but just wait and fix it up during regular maintenance.
The photos look good.
PS, I would fix it up immediately too if it was my boat.
The boat is usually permantly moored in the water, but was recovered onto trailer to bring back home to fit radio and other things. Easier to do it here than drive 2 hours each way.
Anti foul was only applied in September and was in water for only two months, before the damage was done.
It is a bit more than scratch as it has exposed, but not damaged, the glassfibre.
As you can see from the original post here, the boat has been sitting on my drive since the beginning of November instead of being used over the winter, as intended.
As the anti foul is more or less new, I will touch it up, but knowing me, I will continue until the tin is empty.
Incidentally, the original post is good as I bit tcm's head off in the last frame, because he got cute with me, because I had never dealt with fibreglass reapirs before in my life!
