A Fairline Sedan 36 and couple of Princess 35 in UK.

Most are at the other end of the perishing country from me, what would you ask the broker, to find out if the boat is a tired old worn out dog with bilge full of oily water,nav gear out of the ark and been rejected by umpteen boaters before you.
Most in my price bracket seem to have been up for sale for years,one or two years at least for some of them.
Broom Crowns off the list due to being powered by no spares power plants.

Ps Interested if you know of little bargain lurking in your marina/boatyard.
Absolutely No tent boats and NO O*********s. :)
 
Having been victim of this when I was looking at 30 year old boats, I started to ask for a complete set of internal and external photos taken recently, from a digital camera not a phone, at minimum 10Mpx resolution. All cheap digital cameras will do this. No photos = no visit.

With photos from a sympathetic, helpful and responsive broker, a flight to Scotland to look at a 1987 boat meant that when I got there it was exactly as I expected. Better maybe. I'd have bought it if the price would have moved a bit more than it did .... So absolutely worthwhile.

Two boats appear to be worth a look for me both miles from civilization , one in Wales and one in Scotland.........
Quicker to get to SOF or Spain. :(
 
If there is anything over in South Wales - Cardiff to Pembrokeshire - that you'd like someone to have an initial look and take photos then let me know. Always up and down that section for one reason or another.
 
Just had one offer rejected,shame really,although the interior of the boat was tired,all interior woodwork faded,the davits a ball of corrosion,a lot of the vynile sagging plus a 30% power loss when re-engined 10 years ago,it would have suited OGs plodding pace perfectly .
Really did like the period piece whirly depth sounder tho......

Seller presumably convinced the the market is roaring away.
Off to look at some stuff in Essex this weekend.

Looked at a Humber 38 this morning exterior looked fine and really just needed a good wash and polish,the interior was of those homebuilt attempts,which never ever match up to professional fit out and as dark and gloomy as Hades down below. As for the price...good luck with that, you could get an immaculate T36 for that price and with half the engine hours.
Broom Crown was the next victim with a pair of 158 HP Volvos, looked good outside and interior was clean but even though money had been spent on servicing, everything was very dated and world worn inside .
Best of the bunch was Princess 35 which was clean and presentable but again nothing to make you want to buy or even put in a bid. Would though that somebody would have stuck the interior saloon/ front cabin lining back onto the hull before sale ? No cover on flybridge and impossible to read instruments through faded/crazed plastic screens was the least of the repairs needed.
Seller had been lived on boat for three years apparently.
The search goes on. :)

What did the buyer of your boat say about the osmosis ,did they have a survey ,how did you sell it was it with an agent

Not sure where the osmosis bit has come from.:)
Not a blemish when purchased 8 years ago from Boats UK and not a sign when out of water a few months ago.
Hull was Aquafibre/Broom from the 1970s brick wotsit era before resin prices went skywards and layup quality started to plunge earthwards .

Unfortunately none of the brokers managed to develop any leads,despite some good efforts.
Boat was finally sold via a Classified Advert on Ebay (£15.00 for 30 days.)

Achieved virtually the asking price.
Always purchase my boats as "seen and lying" as did my buyer.
Ebay can be worth a shot if you do not need a broker to hold your hand and enjoy negociating money and deposits etc with folks face to face.

Now merely searching for clean loved boat at a sensible price.....not too much to ask for one would think.
Basically its just wading through all the" rocks" that have been sitting on the brokers websites since Noah sold the Ark until something nice pops out.
Same MO just want to watch it start from cold a sea trial of some sort make an offer and take away.

Hi the osmosis was an assumption , would a p35 be of use to u

Have always wanted a Princess 35 as an ideal boat for a bit off coastal work while not making life to difficult in finding moorings on our frequent trips up the Medway/Thames above the tidal locks.
A Fairline Sedan 36 or Princess 415 did briefly get look in but faded again as well into the next price bracket up.
There are several P35 listed on the internet but without exception all seem to have been on the market since I first started looking around 2 years ago.

I was down boats.co.uk last week met a guy who wants to sell is p35 he was on the marina did not get his name or number but I thought some one on here might know the guy and u might get in before he puts it on general sale ,good luck in your search

The brothers do have a P35 on brokerage which is located up in Scotland,it has been up for sale elsewhere(inc Ebay at one point) for ages, presume the seller has got fed up trying to flog it to the tartan hordes and thought he might have better luck down here in the rich south where the sun actually shines. :)

No it was not with boats just a guy I met on the pontoon ,do u know anyone who keeps their boat n the jetty the might know the boat he was quite old but that's it sorry ,might be worth a thread find out who he is good luck
