This has probably been done before but I like to have a look at user profiles from time to time and I am often impressed with boat names.
What is the name of your boat and why that name?

To get the ball rolling - our current boat name is Son Vida which we named after an area in Mallorca where we honeymooned and return for anniversary evey year.

We are changing to Silhouette with new boat (swmbo choice) which I like.

Others I like - Sea Mac which I believe is/was Colin McRaes boat based at Pollensa.

Smooth Operator - big Sunseeker in Palma Mallorca.

Magnum - Braveheart - DrumBeat - Wotapalava - Shenanigans (spotted in Malahide) - Kindered Spirit (a particular favourite) - Sub Zero (owner into Refrgeration).....

I'm glad someone has posted this as we are getting serious headaches trying to think of boat names.

I always think it should be something meaningful and personal but SWMBO was reduced to looking through CD collection at song titles! and still couldn't find one.

FWIW our current boat is "Mis Chicas" - Spanish for "My Girls" which with a wife and three daughters is, I think self explanatory.

That name though belongs emotionally to the current boat and we would have happily kept the existing name of the new boat but the owner wants to take it with him.

Any suggestions would be most welcome

- and don't forget you'll have to change your login name to YBW forums too ......from Coupe to Fly ? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Martyn,
It's a tough one is'nt it.
Are you still in Alcudia.
We bought our first boat following a charter in a small sports cruiser from Alcudia around the island at Alcanada? and around to Formentor. After one day we were totally hooked. Spent the night in a nice bistro along the walkway beside the marina (Bistro del Mar?). Lovely spot.

Be careful about names. I once owned a boat called La Cuenta (Spanish for the bill) and it sure lived upto its name
Still my favourite name is Weather or Knot which belongs to a Cygnus owned by MBM contributor John Cragg
IMHO, a boat name involving the wife's name is a winner. Worth a mountain of brownie points

Nauti Seacrets eh? - no need to explain further nudge nudge wink wink /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
How about "coupe with roof terrace" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Stop it, you are making me want to be there /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Roll on the 22nd. My boat is still poorly but I get to sea trial the new one.... woop woop......................

"Bryter Layter" named after a favourite tune by Nick Drake. We were obviously on an Island Records 1970's singer-songwriter trip at the time because we nearly called her "Solid Air" (a song by John Martyn) but decided that it would be too easily confused with "Solitaire" on the VHF. We're surrounded by Van Morrison fans, with both "Precious Time" and "Brown-Eyed Girl" moored near to us.

My first grown up boat, an Enterprise, had no name but was informally called "The Blue Lentil" by my wife, because every time we used her, it seemed to encourage lots of wind to blow.

I believe the Aisher family (keen sailors and racers, who used to own Marley Tiles) had a Nelson called "Versatile", which I rather like. I was also amused to see that Kate B-C went out on a boat called "Slipper 1" on her Mediterranean jaunt.

Tis true Ian.

If all goes according to plan (ie subject to survey) we will shortly be the proud owners of a 2002 Sealine S34. I'm not saying too much at but as soon as the deal is done I will tell all.

my first few boats were called Afraid Knot.

- and nudge nudge wink wink, /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif the current boat - Nauti Seacrets is about to be changed, but I'll keep the name as SWMBO thought of it !
