Can anyone recommend a company they have used for name graphics? Search on Google and Ebay provide plenty companies but I'm looking for personal recommendations.
Thanks.
I've used SAC Graphics for names and SSR transfers for three boats, and have found their service excellent.
I had to get a transfer replacement for one boat, and they still had the details on file, so were able to make it up without any further input from me.
We used Topcat graphics. They were reasonably priced and very efficient. They advertise in the yachting press - or they used to. Or you can go to their web page.
I can also recommend TOPCAT. Biut use the the cleaner before you apply the graphics. If you are replacing old letters etc remove the traces with very fine wet and dry paper.Topcat tel 01952 728522
I've used, and recommended to others, a local Council-run place which provides employment to disabled people. I found them via Yellow Pages and they make all kinds of signs etc. That's in Ipswich but you may find a similar one in your own locality.
Aardvark Signs did a one-off custom logo for me, from PDF artwork. Some of the others I tried were much more expensive, or wanted special file formats.
I would second SAC Graphics - used them last spring, excellent service. Don't bother to pay extra for fast delivery, the garphic arrived withina week anyway.
Their catalogue listed about 30-40 fonts but when I called them they could actually do about 1000 fonts which shoudl have made it easier to match up with existing font.

I used www.boatnames.co.uk. You can design the graphics on the website and get delivery within 2 days. Excellent service and quality.

[/ QUOTE ]That website isn't working - still under development. So how do you design the graphics on the website? Would be pleased to know how to do it.
Ive just ordered graphics for my boat from a guy in Kendal.
He is cutting vinyl from a jpg I sent him and it should be ready tommorrow. He reckons about £15 for two copies. They come on a carrier tape so that you can position the cut-out name properly before rubbing down.
I did the same with my last boat and they were still stuck on solidly 3 years later when I sold it. And yes I did stick it on from the tender!
I'll let you know how it goes this time. If they are good I'll give you his number.
Ok. I said I'd report back.
I got my boat name made up in cut-out vehicle vinyl.
A local guy trading as The Sign Man in Kendal did it in 24 hours from a .jpg I e-mailed him. Each name was 49 cms long and he charged £15 for the pair.
They come with a peel-off backing paper which protects the adhesive side of the letters and a tacky carrier tape on the non-adhesive side.
Clean the hull with an abrasive cleaner to remove any silicones from polish. Put tape on to line the backing paper up to. Tape the carrier paper to the hull at the top so that it will hinge up.
The peel off the backing paper and lay the letters against the hull carefully and rub down through the carrier paper.
Then peel the carrier paper away, and rub down the letters again.
It should look like this if your boat's called Slippy.
All set for a few years.

Or any sign company that does vehicle graphics and will work from your images (if you have a specific requirement) should be able to do it.
