I am trying to line up the move of my boat from Helenburgh to Plymouth, So far the company I intend to use has been very helpful but to keep the costs down we are trying to find a boat move to Scotland (no particular starting location) to avoid an empty lorry move. I am reasonably flexible on dates but would like to achieve it in the next 4-6 weeks. Of course costs would also be kept down for other parties involved in the move (round robin!). If you are interested PM me and I can put you in touch with the mover to see if he can give you an acceptable price.

You might have a better chance looking at it the 'other way around', ie contact southern boat transport companies coming up North and looking for a back load South!

I have moved a number of boats and as long as you are reasonably open about time a 'back load' always works out cheaper.

I have gone to many companies and the price (as a back load) varies considerably. The company I hope to use have a good round robin of boats to choose from but it would help a lot if we could find a boat wanting to end up in Scotland. As I said the starting point is not that important.

Float your boat?

Eh, its a boat, might it not be floated South?

Perhaps try phoning round the main new yacht sellers in Scotland at Largs, Kip etc. They must have a lot of new Bavarias, Hanse, Jeaneau etc heading north and presumably welcome a return load ?

Thanks

Things are looking better but if I'm still stuck in a week or two I may well do that.

I am going to ship my boat to Scotland in the new month or so (the new owner is paying or it) but I am trying to organise it. We have something tentatively booked but this might work out better for us both?

Can you contact me on cariblue@humbird.co.uk so we can see if the dates and weights are suitable? Many thanks.
