Anyone recommend a place where I can get custom-lettering done in PVC for my transom? I'm designing the lettering myself but need someone to cut it for me.

Most signwriters will oblige.
If you visit their premises, give them the max width & height of the lettering (or the space available) and they will input it in the computer, choose your font, view the result and they will print it.
Easy to apply and a professional finish. I did this two years ago and the letters are still stuck fast. Also used the vinyl letters for the name on the lifebelt. Easier, quicker and cheaper than paint!

I got a normal printers to do mine... I gave them an Illustrator file and they printed two vinyl copies for a tenner...

Wet and Wild at Hamble Point did just this for us, from SWMBO's design. Price seemed reasonable though I've nothing to compare it with. Good quality, and still looks immaculate after 2 years.
No connection etc. etc.

I'd recommend Wet & Wild too. If you can get down to thier office (Hamble Point Marina) you can check out all the fonts and colours to see how the name will look. The staff are very helpful and I have no compaints about the product. Been on for 3 years and still as good as new. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I used Aarvark signs. They printed from my PDF file. No need to worry about their fonts or anything. Also cheap for standard lettering - I used a custom design on the transom and standard lettering on the bow.

As head of IT for a school (sorry Technology College) I have, and most schools will have , equipment to cut out lettering (Windows - True type fonts" to any size you want. Bob along to your local secondary school and make friends with the DT department.

When I had mine done, the guy mentioned the fact that it was for a boat, so did it in special vinyl that was more UV resistant. Didn't cost me any more, but make sure they know the application. Maybe worth questioning the supplier before hand to see if they know the difference
