boat lacks power under load

i have a sealine 22 with bmw 190 turbo diesel which will not reach planeing speed. prop is o.k and correct size. can anyone help would be greatfull for any clues as to problem.

Has it just recently got to be like this? Have you never had it on the plane. Can you give us some history to help us resolve the problem. Also any changes in engine characteristics?

I have read tests on these with the BMWs in and they should achieve 23 knots I think was the top end figure.

OK according to who? May be worth checking with a second source, as this area always seems to be a bit subjective, and seems to involve more guesswork and black magic than science.
