can anyone tell me what the heck are the seats for next to beds in modern boat cabins?

They mostly seem to have these in aft cabin boats, power or sail both have them.

I suppose it's to sit down on and take your socks off. The seats don't face a mirror so not for makeup or that sort of thing. What's wrong with the bed for sitting on? I feel I must be missing some important part of bedroom activities - unrelated to anyone else mind - but so vital that even on boats under 45 feet long the interior designers must think phew, and there's *just* room for an all-important comfy seats on each either side, thank god for that otherwise not a proper boat. Or so it seems....

Bloody hell! Its a seat is it? I always put my clothes on it that I take off.

Something you want to talk about is it?

Ours face mirrors - because we FITTED mirrors.

These lockers are also very useful for dirty clothes but don't loose loose socks through any ventillation or cabling apertures!

You'll also find that in bigger boats they give a useful step-up into bed to avoid putting one's foot into mem'sahib's face

What would you have in their place? Don't get controversial (even conTRIVersial) on this; you could start a war!
