As some of you may know I have sold my Princess 388 circa 100K and took a Birchwood TS 34 in partex, which I am in the process of selling, I cancelled the 388 policy today to find that the current insurers will no longer take on any more business, so I have to cancell the 388 policy, wait for the co to pay me back 6 months that are left and pay out now, more than I paid 6 months ago to insure a boat that is worth 40K less!!!!!, something wrong here I think, so got on the phone to various companies, the big shock that I got and most of you out there are going to get soon is that insurance has rocketed in price, some of the main players have pulled out altogether and its all due to good old Binladens sept 11th plane rides, so beware all, grit youre teeth and smile.

Next time you renew make sure that you are with a company that is strong in the marine field, not one like I did that seem to be just playing at it, although to be fair we have been with them since 1996, after mentioning this to them it seems to mean jack sh*t, so can anyone reccomend a good fair one as a new boat may be on the horizon.

Well I have just done mine with Craft insure - part of Nav and Gen which is part of Zurich so a good pedigree there.
Good price against the rest - still I dont know what service I'll get if I have to claim.
It's good while it lasts.

Any jobs going ??

St Margaret seem very good at colecting money in. And very resonable price although it has gone up a bit this year. Also now needing 3 million cover. Must try to bash some thing and see if there any good at paying out.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Used to be with St M's but got the run around on a relatively small claim, the first in 30 years of boating. So disappointed told them to stuff it and transferred our business to N & G. They have been terrific. One of the lowest premiums and absolutely no problem with extending cover for range or conditions and at no extra cost. Thank you for letting us know Sir. No, that will be alright, have a nice trip Sir. My 'no extra cost' extentions would probably allow me to take our boat to the Moon now!!

st m's paid out with no fuss, on my delamination claim, £4,000

Hi,

Just renewed mine with GJW and had no problems in the last three years, however made no claims. Seem helpful and with various extensions at no extra cost (if I remember right), it went £35 this year so not complaining.

Thanks al for replies, been looking at 50 plus ft Sunseekers, also would like eq Princess or Fairline, anyone selling cheap outhere?.

Dont know why there are no owners on the forum, I would be interested to talk to any, I just fancy something different to a Princess or Fline, this Sunseeker is at the right price but needs loads of work, both engines out for overhaul ans its a wreck inside, it also needs a respay on the top, yeah sounds bad but its half price, I put offer in last week but now its in a dutch auction so I pulled out at my limit, shame really because its an early flybridge model the 52, v drives as well with MAN engines which I know quite well, oh well it was just a dream I suppose, so still looking. I will be on South coast this weekend looking after working Friday and Sat.
