You must have seen the latest advert desperately trying to place the Rover 75 as a credible Rolls Royce/Bently/Mercedes type alternative for the super rich (got yours on order yet!?) parked in front of a super impressive motor yacht. But what is it?

It loks like a Sunseeker Predator onto which someone, clearly with an intricate knowledge of marine design, has grafted a flybridge!

Wonder if we'll start to see adverts with a Sealine parked in front of a Rolls Royce, no doubt cunningly restyled as a 4X4 or something...?

Chopped in my Range Rover for a Rover 75 tourer a couple of months ago. Bloody daft idea: I'd forgotten (or not realised) quite how much crap we traipse around going to the boat... Nice enough car otherwise, though - better appointed and better screwed together than the Range Rover. Only got a Fairline, tho, so standards obviously too low.

Is "tourer" the new description for an Estate then!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Commoners drive estates. I have a Tourer, now that I've sold the shooting brake. And as for Chris_d's scurrilous comment, as soon as my Rover 75 carpet slippers and pipe arrive, I'll be over to give the cheeky bugger a damn good thrashing.

I've seen this advert in a magazine as well now. It's definately a Sunseeker, there is a 4-1 ratio of bikini clad lovelies to males, and the chap on the side deck appears to be sporting an open neck shirt and thick gold chain, presumably with a large medallion on the end...!!!

75 tourer must be the nicest looking estate car around.

We've just bought and MG ZS 180 (Rover 45) and I have never had so much fun in a car since my Mini, so alas I now have an MG TF too!!! Very well built and road worthy cars. Maybe more of us should buy british???? MG-Rover and Jag are selling more cars than anyone else at the moment. (MGR 35% up on last year and that was 40% up on the previous year)

Would have liked a 75 but we're in our twenties so best not yet ah???)
Maybe a ZT-T next????

Relaxation starts at the pontoon gate

Think it's a standard predator 74?

The photgraph also shows some bikini clad models who seem to have been cut out of different photgraphs, perhaps a Freemans catalogue. Obviously they don't fancy taking the car abroad as it will break down or take ages. Therefore the photo was taken at Poole, and had to be cut out from the background of the other boats trying to raft up behind.

How utterly galling for anyone with a predator 74. And especially for all those of us who wear white suits and tasteful gold medallions.

Excuse me !!

There's nothing wrong with my clothes sense. AND I polish my medallion every weekend.

P.S. I agree it's a 74 but were was that pjhoto taken. I can't work it out.

P.P.S. Rovers and Boats/Yachts are mutually exclusive statements beyond the wit of any marketeer , even German ones !! I thought S/seeker were more into Porsche Club GB thant BMW , ...............oops sorrry Rover.

Mind you Sunseeker/ Rover probably same 0-30 times...

Tasteless morons this way

The photo is actually exceedingly lame, with plenty of ropes and fenders that haven't been hidden or "photoshopped" out. They aren't sure what the bikini-clad women are supposed to do, and since there are perhaps no cushions (the boat is due for delivery soon) then the girlies have to sort of hang about standing up on deck, throwing a ball aroundin true carryy-on-camping style.

It just must be a diferent background to repalce the original - that shot wasn't taken at night.

Just moronic..

Yes, but how did Sunseeker International allow it?

Even TB couldn't believe it. It's more like a rerun of a 1960s advert for 2 week breaks in Benidorm with Cosmos than a modern advert.

Not just 74s reduced in value due this advert. Entire S/seeker range...

So, we have Tullio Abbate and Riva associated with Ferrari
Princess with Coulthard (?)
Fairline with Button (?)...and

Sunseeker with Rover !!!

How the mighty are fallen

Re: Just moronic..

I bet you will see them ripped down fairly smartish. If sunseeker have any sense they will wade in bigtime. Bet rover just though it was "a boat" and they all look the same.

Re: Cars all the same

They wouldn't even let me in the door let alone onto the waiting list. I was asked to leave a certain german car dealership, I wouldn't mind, but I was there to pick up my car. They had just serviced it!

Re: Cars all the same

Ah but you see they've cleverly "modified" it so that it isn't a Sunseeker any more. Look closely and you'll see they've drawn a windscreen and rails on top of the wheelhouse to make it a flybridge! So not a Sunseeker anymore...!! Hahaha!!

Also, is it me, or do the cut-out pasted on figures having fun aboard look out of scale? They all look about 15 feet tall compared to the boat...!

Oh, and thought Button had a Princess, not a Fairline?
