Boat in build pics (2013 Fairline Squadron 78)

Don,t be cruel , Med tenders are worked hard - visits to clubs, restaurants , other boats , sandy beaches, + provisioning , - big wheel and man sized throttle - perfect for close 1/4 .

Ski pole?
Binimi ?
Presume separate dash cover as well as boat cover?
I don't want a ski pole P, becuase I don't do enough skiing. Transom U bolts are fine! My jury is out on a bimini. The boat is prepped for it (lacing eyes aft on tubes, and GRP step pad each side to mount the frame on) but I don't know if I want one. They are nice when you need them but in the way when you don't. I'll try it without, for starters. Pic below is MYAG's boat, exact same model as mine, with bimini. He loves the bimini, but he's in Turkey (hotter) and spends all day on it fishing :)

Yup, I have had an overall sunbrella cover made plus a small console-only cover, in white sunbrella (which, annoyingly, is actually a bit pinky cream, yuk)

whole boat looks awesome jfm. The white decks look brill and so does the fly bridge with the three abreast seating, really good idea.

That's easily the best console I've ever seen on a rib of this size, outstanding job.
Just one thought on the wheel: I see the point in having a s/steel one in a tender exposed to salty spray etc., but maybe a smaller one?
Anyway, the fat cat definitely says...

Oh I love it !

Haha! You can't please all of the people all of the time. It's 350mm dia. I slightly agree MapisM and tried to find a high quality one @300mm with 10mins of google but didn't succeed. There is a small wheel in many online chandleries with aluminium strip spokes maybe 3mm x 30mm but it is awful. The Walker Bay wheel would work if I bought one as a spare part, maybe...

Without wading back through the thread, are you having a laser on M2? And yes, definitely a thumbs up for the white caulk, very smart. Are you still thinking of coming around to the W Country before moving M2 to the Med?

Not sure the difference is worth bothering, but these folks have a very similar model which is available in 320mm dia...

Thanks. I'm pretty sure the Novurania wheel is that Osculati. The rim of the Novu wheel is oval section s/s tube which is a feature of that osculati product. It must therefore be 320 or 380, and my 350 stated above must be wrong. Scaling that picture here on big screen, using high res pic, I can be sure it is 380 (scaled off the Raymarine which is 163 wide). I can therefore swap it for the 320mm dia. That has been added to the long jobs list :)

Yes, I kept the Laser and will put it on Match2. Buyers of Match1 had a jetski fitted. I'm going to get some nicer chocks for it, laser cut from s/s. The chocks on M1 were a bit heavy and not sleek enough imho

I would like to do a bit of a UK cruise but I can't be sure. I'll only know the boat handover date when it comes around, and then I'll have a short menu of ships to choose from to transport if to the Med, like "beginning of June" and "end of June" but I wont know that till late May. So I just do not know what period of time I'll have between getting the boat and putting it on a ship, and therfore all cruising plans will be last minute

Aha, that makes good sense. Yep, in this case the difference is definitely worth replacing it.
And not just for aesthetic reasons btw: I bet that also the handling/feeling will improve.

This pic shows the nice fuel filter set up btw. Twin filters, which choice to hot swap between them or use both, plus a filter restriction gauge with mechanical memory needle so you can read the max restriction after the engine has been switched off

We have the same system on the race boat - the only difference is we don't have a tell tale.

Well the tableware just arrived. Hand made porcelaine from Legle in Limoges, France, with handpainted decoration and real platinum silver rims. Five grand's worth. Unfortunately the despatch department decided to skimp a bit on the polystyreme packaging blobs. About a 20% hit rate, LOL. Another job to sort out.... :D

Now that's really sad. Sorry you have this to sort out. They sound gorgeous and it's a shame such a hand crafted creation has been destroyed, especially through what appears to be negligence. I suspect it's not something that can be replaced quickly, either.

John, you should know by now. Ebay, late nights and drinking don't mix

Jfm, I have only just registered as a member but have followed your build of M2 from the start. I live near ipswich and love looking at the fairlines waiting in the water before delivery. Would you post when M2 goes into the water at Ipswich so I don't miss the chance of seeing here in the water before she goes off to the Med. By the way, I hope they wrap her up better than the crockery!!!!

Yep, sure. Hull #91 has just arrived or is just about to arrive in Ipswich. Mine is next, hull #92, in about 5 weeks. I'll post, but it is easy to spot by the triple windows in the bow cabin and the extra window in the transom. If I'm there step on for a look around

Thanks, that's very kind of you and an invitation I simply couldn't refuse.
