Boat in build pics (2013 Fairline Squadron 78)

Continued...
All the electrical stuff is very neat. The pics below show the Lumishore underwater lighting driver install with a breakers box at the left and 6x drivers across the centre, one of the "Clapham Junctions" where the mouse ducts meet, and the custom 60Hz 110v inverter to power US spec SubZero fridges

Stunning set of pictures. A smashing review of the superb design features and the brilliance of the S78 team at Fairline to respond to something 'slightly' different.
On a totally selfish point would you mind sending me the picture of the Driver install. It is obviously is the first image we have of the Lumishore "RDM-system" installed on a 'production' (???!!!!) boat and it is such a neat install as always . Thanks

Wonder who the first nav manufacturer will be to fit a head up display on the lower helm windscreens?
Yeah, and I suppose the next step could be a remote connection allowing the helmsman to stay at home and control the boat from his desk...!
Sometimes we loose the plot with all the gizmos allowed by modern technologies.
I'll gladly continue to enjoy the external scenario from my p/house windows, looking at the instruments only if/when necessary, thank you. :)

Back to M2, stunning boat indeed J, congrats.
Just curious, the wooden frames around the actuator are meant to build a small w/tight compartment around it, or is it just sound insulation, or what?
This is the port side Sleipner stabiliser actuator mech, under the floor of the walk-in wardrobe in master cabin

Below are a few engine room shots. 3rd one shows a simple custom mod whereby external air is drawn in from outside and squirted at face of genset air intake, to provide cooler air and get more power from the engine. The fan only runs when genset runs and can be turned off at dash.

J, I was speccing exactly the same thing for my Scuba compressors (just bought a second one)

do you mind giving the model of fan you're using ?

usual solutions have a hose connections, but on the wrong (suction) end,
I intended to build a alum box with a centrifugal fan in it, fix it on the seeling, on one of the air intakes, and make 2 round holes and fix a hose clamb on the side of this box.
when you're at the boat again, would you make a pic of the fan, and the hose connection?

as with M1, I'm deeply impressed with the finish and the detailing these guy's / the yard delivers !

Thanks for the comments folks

Ref HUD, I am with MapisM on this. You need them in fighter jets and I have one (and love it) on BMW M5, but the pace and reaction time there is all different. The boat is so much more relaxing and slooooow. Also on a car you just need speed, rpm and gear selected, whereas on a boat you need perhaps 20 data items and a chart + radar. That's too much for HUD :-)

EME, yes I'll find a tidier pic and send. The six drivers are your gear as you know, and the grey box left is the 24v distribution. It is fed by a high current wire from the HD 24v distribution panel just outside the e/room door, then it is split 6 ways to the 6 lights, with a circuit breaker for each light. Nice job, and very heavy duty so almost no voltage drop to the lights. The elec guys at Fairline are not the compromising type :-)

Petem, yup, there is a fine line twixt Manhattan and Romford. I hope I've navigated it ok :-?. I'm not going to dispute the "nightclub" comment - that's the intention! The interior finishes should come together in about 4 weeks, eek

BartW, the fan is a catalogue item. These are nothing like say cooker extractors or hair driers - they shift serious amounts of air. Continuously rated. http://www.jabscoshop.co.uk/marine/...mm-4-flexmount-blower-71cummin-24-volt-dc.htm. The inlet hose is 1.5m long, flexi, 100mm dia and is led to one of the big rectangular intake louvre panels along the side decks. Both the inlet and outlet of the fan will accept 100mm hose, with jubilee clip, but as you can see in the picture I don't need any hose on the outlet. I could fit a box at the outlet to direct the fanned air to the square intake grille, but I plan to try it as is and see how it goes

Cardo - just a chain counter/readout, and simple computer. It bleeps when you have 1.5m left to wind in, and you can select say 25m and hit go, and it dumps 25m then stops. Quite a nice, but not essential, accessory. It has a controller at both helms. Made in NZ by autoanchor, and they badge as Lewmar and several others http://www.autoanchor.co.nz/autoanchor-560

MapisM, the woodwork is just to form the base for the cabin floor (sole) above the actuator. This is the walk in wardrobe aft port corner of master cabin. Nothing more than that, and not a w'tight compartment. I just dint have the space for that. Actually there is plenty of room on this port side. On the stbd side the master ensuite is built above the stab and there is definitely no room for w'tight compartment that side of the boat. The absence of w'tight comp is not 100% pure offshore ship standard, but ok for med cruising imho!

I'm glad losts of people like the white caulk. I love it, but it is a love it or hate it thing. It felt a bit of a risk in terms of resale, but I reckon it will be ok (or a benefit) as plenty of people on here have said they like it. I think it will look great in the med, when all set up with the deck furniture (which includes some Royal Botania in s/steel frames and white Batyline mesh). I need to lose the black anchor winch footswithces and get white or s/steel ones if I can find them in any catalogue

If the exterior is anything to go by, the interior is going to look great. Personally I'd go for the Ibiza Chillout look but appreciate that's a bit hackneyed and dull.

This pic shows the nice fuel filter set up btw. Twin filters, which choice to hot swap between them or use both, plus a filter restriction gauge with mechanical memory needle so you can read the max restriction after the engine has been switched off

Here's a quick update on the tender. Nearly finished, following much nice work by the Essex Boatyards team.

First 2 pics show the tender before any mods; third pic shows new dash in build (left) and old one (right); last 4 pictures show the finished dashboard job (today).

I'm really pleased with it. The new shape allows for a sensible instrumentation install, without changing the overall height. Plotter is Raymarine a67. The business side of the dash looks great but the forward face is a bit ugly/flat/slabby, so I'm going to put a backrest cushion there to "break up" the flat area. I'll prob get all the cushions re-done in silver movida with black trim or a silver/white movida combo

Oh dear, I didn't see that the fan was on the end of the hose, (was on a small computer this afternoon) thought it was just a 90° elbow
actualy earlier this week I came across this fan when browsing the net, but with the boxed fan in my mind, was looking for a even stronger vent solution

did you do a calc on the capacity of this blower ?
have been wondering myself about my genny's being in that warm position during navigation. (for 20y now)
therefore i do need more ventilation for the scuba compressors, they become very hot, and then the capacity of the air filters is reduced dramatically (a electronic temp sensor / timer/counter on them) I thought just blow a maximum amount of fresh air on them.

your tender / dash looks the bizz, congrats, well done.

Or a Vegas slot machine? Got to pay for it somehow. :)
Don,t be cruel , Med tenders are worked hard - visits to clubs, restaurants , other boats , sandy beaches, + provisioning , - big wheel and man sized throttle - perfect for close 1/4 .

Ski pole?
Binimi ?
Presume separate dash cover as well as boat cover?
