boat hits Henley Bridge

We were out on Tuesday, after waiting for the river condition update that morning, and headed off to Hampton Court. It's a bit of river I've known over 40 years but even so there were sections where you could feel the boat start to do strange things when encountering unusual eddies and currents.

Out of interest, what criteria triggers yellow and red boards? Anyone know?

Part of that is easy - Reds are put up when the lockies have opened all the taps and have lost control.

Dunno about Yellows, but someone sensible will come along soon and give a proper explanation.

Reds aren't put out when the weirs are fully opened :)

Yellow boards are triggered when a certain number of gates are open on the weir in question.

Red boards are triggered when a few more are opened ( varies from lock to lock ) , but red boards go out well , well before the weirs are fully drawn.

When we've lost control , that's when the 'We're Doomed' boards go out.
