Boat hire on Lake Como

These guys are the better organised for boat renting in Lake Como:

MartynG is correct re.license: you don't need any up to 40hp, which is the reason why most boats offered for rent have a 40hp O/B.
Above that, in Italy a license is mandatory (not just for renting, also for your own boat), but I'm not sure about if/how they will consider/accept the foreign regulation, for a non-IT citizen.
I mean, since after all renting boats is their business, they might possibly accept to rent boats with more than 40hp to a foreigner with no license, provided that no license is required in his/her home Country (as is the case for the UK). But don't take my word for it, you'd better ask in advance.

Anyway, you should also consider that for instance the Key Largo with the 40hp O/B is perfect for lake cruising.
I wouldn't actually load her to the max capacity of 8 people, but is great for 4 and still good enough for 6.
And it's also capable of towing a skier, though not for deepwater start with a monoski.
But mind, for towing skiers, the previously mentioned license is mandatory even if the engine is within 40hp.
Again, not sure about if and how that applies to foreigners.

I don't think you'll find anyone willing to rent you a boat bigger than the 26' Sessa which you can find at the bottom of the previous webpage, anyway.
