My first winter season approaches and the use of the boat continues. Has anyone got a solution for heating the boat when away from the berth on a pilot house outboard (mine is a MF755). I use a small fan heater that is very effective but needs shore power so something similar perhaps on 12v?

You could possibly get a very low power 12v heater, like a demister, that you could use to blow warm air at you whilst cruising with the outboard charging the battery . You have no chance of heating the boat off the battery when the engine is stopped. The best solution will be a small Eberspacher with a separate diesel tank, or a propane heater and gas bottle.

Both will be into 4 figures fitted, unless you buy used and/or install it yourself

If you want heating whilst out fishing, keeping the chill off in the wheelhouse and can have lots of ventilation then an Origo heat pal is good, loads of heat but no way should it be in a fully enclosed space and get a CO monitor alarm. They produce little CO on full but buckets of it on low and when the flame is extinguished.

We have an old eberspacher in our boat, it came with it and must be as old as the boat, 1990. it starts when needed and has been 100 percent reliable.
Now I have had dealings with their newer offerings and they have not been so reliable, webasto pretty much the same.

An Eberspacher would be good. But probably quite a bit more expensive than the Propex.
Also the OP has an outboard engine (so I assume its petrol) and and may already have propane for a cooker. .
