I have got involved will selling a boat for an 80 year old in poor health.

Apparently he paid £70 000 for a Moon Raker 36
year of build 1990
twin 220/240 HP Sabers diesels
36 foot

being sold for £30 000

I have no idea what a Moon Raker looks like I thought it was a Bond Movie .

Does £30 000 sound right or should they try for more ?

I have no financial interest, just trying to advise a friend of a friend.

Thanks Divemaster and Ben /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I knew about that Moonraker but thought it was 1960s

When I was told this was a 1990 boat I had no idea what it was.

It is supposed to be in good condition but not washed outside.

£30 000 sounds too cheap, I will suggest it is advertised.

Thanks for your help.

I used to have one of the 70's Moonrakers and enjoyed it a lot. A non flybridge 70's model with either Perkins 145 hp or 175 hp would be in the £20k to £30k area IMHO.
May be as well to check the spec because I don't recognise those engines as being normal, although it may be because of the late build/ completion.
The boat that Divemaster shows looks a particularly nice late example, so don't get too carried away if your friend's boat is looking down at heal.

Lightly built and so a fair turn of welly in good conditions but much less happy when it gets more marginal. Look for bulkheads/stringers separating from the hull round the forward cabin area. There was a Super Moonraker made ISTR, but only a tiny number.

Think the last one built was in 1991 and had 2x Mercruiser D254 / 220Hp installed.

180's Fords were also installed ... but most of the flybridge ones were delivered with 115 6.354, 145 and 175 Perkins T6.354..

Well spotted Divemaster and Mike /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
