Boat fire

Could have very easily been so much worse. I wonder if they were insured and who's isurance is to cover it? The person who was meant to take delivery or the yard. There is a chance there was no insurance at all, depends on when and what the company covers in hurricane season?

I was going to go there today and look at a Boston Whaler they had. Wish I had now!!!

I saw a small fire on a liveaboard near Hampton Court on the Thames . By the time the island fire hose got sorted and dingies got out the whole thing was ablaze /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I later read in the paper there was someone onboard /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Its made me check the pressure on my fire extinguishers more often than not .

If you do come to Sarasota to have a look at boats Whalers, give me a call. We are only 3mi from that place and there's quite good English-owned bar next door for a reasonable pint and fish and chips!!

[quoteMaybe they were fixed with a piece of tape.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thought from the article you posted this was already taken care of?

"Don Smith, Marine Max general manager, said he had no idea what caused the fire.

He said the Sea Ray will be replaced by one brought in from Pompano Beach."

Risk and the requirement to have insurance cover normally transfers with payment, not delivery. I'd assume from the statement/report that the Searay was still the dealers and would be replaced with another stock boat brought in and the other was Joe Punter's own boat and hence at his risk.....

Back in the early nineties, I visited a relative of mine who lived just opposite the war memorial in Sarasota. Memory is dim but I'm pretty sure she took us to Sarasota yacht club (or something similar) where we had really good fish and chips which she claimed was on the menu because she had "persuaded" the chef that it should be a permanent fixture. Sadly deceased now so little chance of going back which is a shame - lovely place.
